We fell in love with the Birman Cat in the February, 1988, when we visited
our 1st cat show in Villa Park, IL. The following August we went to The
Sacred Cat of Burma show in Medina, OH and purchased a lovely 4 month old
seal-point female birman - Melik Lothlorian (Leia),
from Marilyn Rowley (Barmar).
We were complete novices and do not recommend anyone else finding their 1st
show/breeder the way we did. It is much smarter to go to many cat shows, learn
about the breed, meet many breeders and decide what "look" you want to work with.
We just got lucky !!
Leia made a final at the first show we took her to, and then 3 finals at the next
show....we were hooked !!!
In the spring of 1991 we purchased Birjan's Night Dancer of
Bojacat from Richard
and Janice Mayo (Birjan). A wonderful seal point boy that we granded in August,
1991. Our first Bojacat Grandchampion came from Leia's 2nd litter.
Our first Bojacat Grandchampion came from Leia's 2nd litter.Bojacat Nadia Catmaneche, a seal point female. She granded in December of 1991.
Our 2nd Bojacat Grand is Bojacat Raindancer of Mistymoon. "Dancer" went to live with Mary Kwaterski in December of 1994 and she granded him in April, 1995.
In August, 1995 , our good friends, Lorraine & Becky Kritz offered to let us have Rebecca's Al Toona (of Bojacat) to show. Al is a Black Exotic (a short haired Persian) no - not a birman ! We had a great time showing him and got to learn about another breed in the process ! Al granded easily and he went on to receive a regional award for the 1995-96 show season - 22nd Best Cat in the Midwest region !!
The following year we granded Bojacat Sylvester, a seal point male, and showed him to
21st Best cat in the Midwest Region for 1996-97!!
We didn't even know he was interested in girls. He would occasionally pounce on one of the cats, but it was play behavior, not big boy stuff ! Then Quira went in heat. She is a good sized girl, nearly twice as long as Toby. He hadn't paid any attention to her, that we had seen. One morning, Bob came out of the bathroom to find Toby on top of Quira, he had her by the back of the neck and was going through the motions like he'd been doing it all his life ! They looked like Mutt & Jeff ! It wasn't long after Bob said "he'd never be able to stretch far enough to breed her", that we heard a squawk out of Quira . Toby let go of her and she started rolling around....9 weeks later we had 4 babies !! Each cat has his or her own story, Toby is just one of my favorites. He made some lovely babies for us and is the sire of Grand Champion, National Winner, Bojacat Vabulous.
Our next grand champion is Bojacat Ulysses, he granded in the 1st ring of his third show as a champion, in June, 1998.
Our very special GRC NW Bojacat Vabulous. Vabulous was born in April, 1998, and in June, Bob said she is just fabulous...let's name her "Vabulous" ! She has great big dark blues eyes, like her daddy, Toby. She has a lovely light coat and wonderful dark point color without any barring, and beautifully marked gloves and laces. She went to the Sacred Cat of Burma show in Medina, OH, at just 4 1/2 months old and was best Birman kitten in show !! What a thrill !! We took her to the National Birman Fanciers show in New Jersey, in October, where she also received Best Birman kitten in show. "In November we traveled to Kansas City, MO, to the CFA International Show. She was Best Birman kitten, overall 6th best longhair kitten and 10th best kitten in show! At the end of the 1998 - 1999 CFA Show Season we are proud to announce that Vabulous earned the award of CFA'S 11th BEST KITTEN and her title is now GRAND CHAMPION, NATIONAL WINNER BOJACAT VABULOUS !!" Needless to say we are very proud of her!!
In September, 1999,
GRC Bravi's Victor Noel of
Bojacat came to live with us when he was 8 1/2 months old. He is a blue point
male, with the sweetest disposition - he's like having a big old teddy bear that
purrs !! He granded at the Midwest Regional Qualifier on October 9th. The following
weekend we took him to The National Birman Fanciers Show in Carneys Point, New Jersey.
He made 4 finals there and was Best Birman Cat in Championship !!!
Our newest "Star" is Bojacat
Wind Chimes. She started her show career at 4 months, making 4 out of
6 finals, the first weekend in March at the TGIF show in St Charles,
MO. When the 1999 - 2000 show season ended on April 30th, she managed to
squeeze in a Regional 18th Best Kitten award and was the 2nd Best Birman Kitten
in the country, at the tender age of just 6 months !
We took her to 4 shows in May,
2000 and she was BEST KITTEN in show at all 4 shows !! But the most
exciting of all, was that when the National points were tallied at the end of
May, Wind Chimes was the very Best Kitten in CFA in the Country !!!
On March 10, 2001, Bojacat XTC became our newest Grand champion at the Dandylions Cat Show in Racine, WI. XTC is a seal point female out of Sire: Birjan's Usurper Conan the Destroyer of Bojacat and Dam: Bojacat Vivianna.
